Ordering in Gold: How to Commission an Alex Yuvero Piece

Every piece in the Alex Yuvero collection that is available in sterling silver or gold-plated silver can also be made in solid 18-karat gold. White, yellow, or rose. This is not a standard catalogue option — it is a commission, a conversation, a piece made specifically for the person who orders it.

The process is simple. The result is a piece with the permanence of gold: harder than silver, resistant to tarnish, hallmarkable as a precious metal at the highest standard. A piece that will look the same in ten years as it does the day you receive it.

What 18-Karat Gold Means

18-karat gold is 75% pure gold — 750 parts per thousand. The remaining 25% is typically an alloy of silver, copper, and other metals that gives the gold its colour and working properties:

  • Yellow gold — the classic. The alloy is balanced to produce the warm yellow traditionally associated with fine jewellery.
  • White gold — alloyed with palladium or silver to produce a pale, silvery metal. Often rhodium-plated for a bright white finish. A contemporary alternative to platinum.
  • Rose gold — alloyed with a higher proportion of copper, producing the warm pink tone associated with romantic jewellery and vintage aesthetics.

18K is the standard used in fine jewellery across Europe. It is harder and more durable than 24K (pure gold), which is too soft for everyday wear, and contains significantly more gold than 14K (58.3% gold), which is more common in the US market but less so in European fine jewellery.

The Diamond Pieces

The Diamond Bamboo and the Diamond Nipples Torso are already made exclusively in solid 18-karat gold. These are made-to-order by definition — the diamond setting requires individual attention, individual measurement, individual craftsmanship that cannot be standardised across a production run. Each is a unique object.

For these pieces, we work directly with the client to determine gold colour, confirm dimensions, and ensure the final piece is what was imagined. The conversation is the first part of the making.

How to Order

To commission any Alex Yuvero piece in solid 18-karat gold:

  1. Email hello@alexyuvero.com with the piece you want, the gold colour, and any specific requirements (ring size, chain length, engraving).
  2. We will confirm the price, lead time (typically 3–6 weeks), and any design details.
  3. A 50% deposit confirms the commission. The balance is due on completion, before shipping.
  4. The finished piece is shipped in the Alex Yuvero box with its hallmark certificate.

Gold pieces are priced individually depending on the specific piece, gold colour, and current gold price at the time of the commission. We will always confirm the exact price before accepting a deposit.

On Permanence

The reason to commission a piece in solid gold is not only material value, though that is real. It is the question of permanence: what does it mean to own an object that will outlast you? Gold does not tarnish. It does not corrode. It does not need replating. A gold piece made today will be the same piece in fifty years, passed to another person, still carrying the form that was designed for it. It is, in the most literal sense, an heirloom from the moment it is made.

That is not a small thing to consider when deciding what to wear.
